Unveiling the Past

This blog is a tribute to a legacy that spans over four decades of passion for role-playing games. Rolls and Relics was inspired by the remarkable collection of Mark Ingraham, a man who spent 40 years gathering, exploring, and playing RPGs from game systems well known as Dungeons & Dragons as well as those created by many independent creators who helped shape the genre.

Mark wasn’t just a collector—he was an adventurer of the imagination. He loved discovering new games, immersing himself in their rules and worlds, and then bringing those games to life with friends and, on occasion, even his wife. He had an uncanny ability to not only enjoy these games but also to learn from them, often finding fresh inspiration with each new set of rules or story.

Since Mark’s passing, I’ve begun a personal journey through his collection. Truthfully, I didn’t fully appreciate the depth, creativity, or intricacy of his treasures until now. As I explore each piece—whether it’s a rare rulebook, a forgotten campaign setting, or just the handwritten notes from his many sessions—I am learning about the rich history of RPGs that he cherished so deeply.

Not only do I hope to explore and share Mark’s collection, but I also plan to document the newer games I’ve played since his passing. These modern RPG experiences, along with the vintage titles, will help me continue his legacy while also embarking on new adventures of my own. Through this blog, I invite you to join me in revisiting the past and exploring the future of RPGs.
